Baseball

EQUIPMENT:
Nikon D1H
300mm

PROCESS:
I went to a high school baseball game last week with one shot in mind... this one. I've seen it done before, but I just wanted to see how hard it was to get... I manually focused on an area of grass between the pitcher and the batter. When I thought the pitcher had thrown the ball in that focused area I snapped a shot... It really wasn't too hard to do but I kept shooting to see if I could get the ball sharp enough to read what was printed on it. In this shot the ball is pretty sharp, but not exactly sharp enough to read the fine print, but I still like the outcome.

Large Format From 1st Year

EQUIPMENT:
Large Format Camera
Kodak E100 4x5 film

PROCESS:
I found these 4x5 positives and scanned them in at school. They were shot during my first year, during large format class. I know they aren't the best photos in the world, I just thought it was cool to see them again.

Abercrombie & Fitch

EQUIPMENT:
Leaf Aptus
Stuff in the studio
Photoshop

PROCESS:
We had to shoot a product to include in our portfolio for photojournalism. We also had to use one of the medium format digital cameras to do so. I used hot lights, scrims, black cards, and I cant remember what else.

RCC Idol

EQUIPMENT:
Canon 30D
70-200mm
17-40mm
White Lightnings
Zoom Recorder
Minidisc Recorder

PROCESS:
RCC held their own version of American Idol and I decided to do a soundslides on the event. I set up two white lightnings on each side of the stage and there was already a clean white background behind each singer.

Asheboro Baseball

EQUIPMENT:
Canon 30D
70-200mm
Nikon D1H
300AF

PROCESS:
I went to the Asheboro vs. Eastern Randolph game on Friday afternoon with one shot in mind. I wanted to get a photo of the person leading off from first base sliding back to the plate. It was not a difficult shot to get, but getting the players face and eyes was difficult because they naturally looked down when sliding... But, another shot I challenged myself with was getting the pitcher throwing a pitch with the ball right on his finger tips, which was definitly hard, but once it was accomplished, getting more shots like it was not difficult.
