UNCG vs. ECU

EQUIPMENT:
Canon 30D
100mm AF f/2

PROCESS:
First of all, the lighting at UNCG is great and I didn't have to set up any lighting equipment... After hearing that UNCG had an upper balcony that was right over the basketball goal, I really wanted to go there and shoot some photos like these. At first I was shooting with my 18-55mm but the composition was just too loose and far away. Then I remembered that the photographer at my internship let me borrow his 100mm, so I tried that lens and it was perfect. All the images are full frame except the last two. Those photos had some negative space that needed to be cropped out. I kept my focus on the rim of the goal, but I wish I would have closed down to a larger f/stop because I would've liked to see the players and the ball a lot sharper. Maybe I'll get the chance to try it again sometime.

NFL Panthers vs. Rams

EQUIPMENT:
Nikon D1H
300mm AF f/2.8
monopod
Canon 30D
100mm AF f/2

PROCESS:
My internship sent me to the NFL again! The lighting wasn't as great as last time, because it was during the day, and of course it had to be super cloudy, so my exposure kept changing. After the first half they started turning on the stadium lights, which helped out a lot.

Duke Basketball

Friday Night Football

EQUIPMENT:
Nikon D1H
180mm
285Q

PROCESS:
For my internship I had to photograph Asheboro vs. Southeast for their Friday night football game. Of course the lighting was bad because it was at night time. So, I had to stick the 285Q on camera, which is all you can do for FNF.

Duke vs. Columbia

EQUIPMENT:
Canon 30D
100mm

PROCESS:
Duke was crushing Columbia on Sunday night and Columbia kept fouling on Duke, so I had the opportunity to get this shot a couple of times, but this was the only time I shot it. I kinda like how the opposing team member is in the foreground as DeMarcus Nelson is shooting his foul shot.

A&T vs. Elon

EQUIPMENT:
Canon 30D
180mm

PROCESS:
After shooting A&T for a while I've noticed how umm... sad their football team is. The running back hits his own quarterback and trips and loses the ball, they have butterfingers, and they are clumbsy... All their "aggie pride" makes for some good photographs. Going to an A&T game is much more entertaining than hard work.
